The prospective law aims to govern AI development in Costa Rica and addresses key issues related to AI and data privacy, transparency and accountabiliy and includes setting up a national regulatory body for overseeing AI technologies. It outlines some key principles of AI Governance which include accountability, explainability, bias prevention and the protection of human rights. The Costa Rican Government used ChatGPT to help draft the law, and said that the use of the LLM was pivotal.
