Regulation

Italy's AI Law (Law No. 132/2025) is the first comprehensive national AI framework in the EU. The Italian Government introduced the national draft law on AI in April 2023. The law was passed in September 2025 and entered into force on 10 October 2025. Italy’s AI Law expressly mandates consistency with the AI Act and sets a governance structure relying on existing authorities like the Agency for Digital Italy (AgID) and the National Cybersecurity Agency (ACN). Its scope includes protection of minors and parental consent, data and algorithms usage for AI training, copyright and TDM exceptions, as well as deepfakes.
