Case Overview

In a class action suit, the plaintiffs alleged that Scatter Lab, an AI developer of a chatbot, had used their personal data without consent. It was alleged that Scatter Lab developed and commercialised the AI chatbot based on users' KakaoTalk conversations. 

Scatter Lab was previously fined 103.3 million won by the Personal Information Protection Commission for the illegal collection and use of users' personal data in chat conversations to train its AI chatbot.
