R. Madhavan, an actor, film maker and public figure in India, claimed that his name, image, likeness and voice had been used in AI-generated deepfake content, fake trailers and obscene morphed content, thereby infringing his personality rights. The defendants included (amongst others) creators, hosting platforms intermediaries and domain name registrars.
