Botswana is expected to hold a general election on 30 October 2024 to decide which party will govern for the next five years.
In the unicameral system, voters will be electing 57 members of the National Assembly by first-past-the-post.
It is expected that President Mokgweetsi Masisi will be running for re-election with the ruling Botswana Democratic Party, which has held a parliamentary majority for 12 consecutive terms.
The main political parties are the Botswana Democratic Party and the Umbrella for Democratic Change coalition.
The country has a population of 2.7 million and approximately 736,424 registered voters. In the 2019 election, voter turnout was 83.5%.
