Algeria held presidential elections on 7 September 2024.
Incumbent president Abdelmadjid Tebboune won the election and will serve another five-year term.
The main political parties in Algeria are Front de libération nationale; Rassemblement national démocratique; Front des forces socialistes; Rassemblement pour la culture et la démocratie; Mouvement de la réforme nationale (al-Islah; Islamist); Mouvement de la société pour la paix (Islamist); Parti des travailleurs.
The country has a population of 46.2 million and there are approximately 24.4 million registered voters. Voter turnout in the 2024 election was 46.1%. In the 2021 parliamentary elections, turnout was 23%.
