Bolivia held a general election on 17 August 2025. Since no candidate secured a majority, a run off election was held on 19 October 2025.

Voters elected the next President as well as all members of the bicameral parliament.

Rodrigo Paz of the Christian Democratic Party won the run off election with 54.5% of the vote.  

Incumbent President Luis Arce of the ruling MAS-IPSP party did not seek re-election and Eduardo del Castillo stood as the party’s candidate.

In the August election, the Christian Democratic Party (PDC), led by Rodrigo Paz, received 32.1% of the vote while the Libre alliance, led by former president Jorge Tuto Quiroga, received 26.7% and MAS-IPSP 3.2% of the vote.

Bolivia’s parliament comprises the upper house Chamber of Senators with 36 members who serve five-year terms; and the lower house Chamber of Deputies with 130 members serving five-year terms.

Bolivia has a population of around 12.6 million and 7.9 million registered voters. In the 2025 election, voter turnout 85%.
