Guinea-Bissau is due to hold a presidential election in December 2024.
The president is elected through a two-round voting system for up to two consecutive terms of five years. Incumbent President Umaro Sissoco Embaló of the Madem-G15 party is eligible to serve another five-year term.
Candidates have not yet been announced.
Guinea-Bissau has a population of 2.19 million and approximately 893,620 registered voters. In the 2019 presidential election, voter turnout was 72.6%. In the 2023 parliamentary election, turnout was 79.5%.
