Voters will be electing the next President and members of the National Congress.
The three main presidential candidates are former Defence Minister Rixi Moncada of the Libre Party; former vice president Salvador Nasralla of the Liberal Party and Nasry Asfura of the National Party.
Presidents serve four-year terms and are elected by plurality, with the candidate receiving the most votes in a single round of voting declared the winner. The outgoing President is Xiomara Castro of the Libre party.
The unicameral National Congress has 128 members who serve four-year terms and are elected through open list proportional representation in each of the 18 constituent districts
Honduras has a population of around 11 million and 6.3 million registered voters. In the 2021 election, voter turnout was 69%.
