Panama held a presidential election on 5 May 2024.
Former security minister José Raúl Mulino of the Achieving Goals and Alliance parties won more than a third of the votes under the first-past-post system.
His main contenders were former President Martín Torrijos of the People's Party; Rómulo Roux of the Democratic Change party and Ricardo Lombana of the Other Way Movement.
Panama has a population of 4.5 million and around 3 million registered voters. Turnout in the 2024 election was 77.6%.
