Romania will be holding a presidential election on 24 November 2024, with a potential second round on 8 December if no candidate secures a majority. The country is also holding parliamentary elections on 1 December 2024.

Romania has a bicameral parliamentary system. The electoral system is based on proportional representation and party lists for both chambers. The upper house Senate has 136 seats, and the lower house Chamber of Deputies has 330 seats. Both chambers are directly elected for four-year terms.

The current Prime Minister is Ion-Marcel Ciolacu of the Social Democratic Party. 

The current President is Klaus Iohannis.

The main political parties are National Liberal Party (PNL0; Social Democratic Party (PSD); Alliance for the Unity of Romanians (AUR); Hungarian Union of Democrats in Romania (UDMR); National Liberal Party (PNL); People's Movement Party (PMP); PRO Romania Save Romania Union (USR); Social Liberal (PRO). 

Romania will be holding European Parliament elections on 9 June 2024.

Romania has a population of 19.6 million and approximately 18.9 million registered voters. Turnout in the 2020 parliamentary elections was 31.9% and 54.8% in the 2019 presidential elections.
