Slovakia held presidential elections on 23 March 2024.
Peter Pellegrini of the Hlas party won the election and will serve a five-year term. He beat former foreign minister Ivan KorĨok.
The current Prime minister is Robert Fico of the Smer-SD.
The main political parties are Ordinary People and Independent Personalities (OL'aNO); Direction-Social Democracy (Smer-SD); Voice-Social Democracy (Hlas-SD); Freedom and Solidarity (SaS); We Are Family (Sme Rodina); Progressive Slovakia (PS); Republika (Republic); Christian Democratic Movement (KDH); Slovak National Party (SNS).
Slovakia will be holding elections for the European Parliament on 8 June 2024.
Slovakia has a population of 5.7 million and around 4.3 million registered voters. Voter turnout in the 2024 election was 51.9%. In the 2023 parliamentary elections, turnout was 68.5%.
